Sales of The Last of US Part 2 by 44% less than the first part

The Last of US Part 2 has become one of the last PS4 games from internal studios. Being one of "Swan songs" console, it was supposed to meet big expectations, but the story from Naughty Dog caused disagreements and disputes among fans.

Despite the fact that the game was far from failure, having received positive reviews and promising sales, recent leaks say that The Last of US Part 2 could suffer from a serious decline in sales. According to some reports, the game diverged about 10 million copies, losing to this predecessor in this indicator.

These data are taken from the latest Insomniac leaks confirming the sales figures for PlayStation, including the total Bloodborne sales volume. But the other day, there was a little additional information about the sales of some projects on PS 3.

The report says that The Last of us Remastered sales exceeded 18 million copies. This is a big difference, and it becomes even more, given 8 million sales of the original version for PS3. It turns out that the first part dispersed of a circulation of 26 million copies

But most of this difference is explained by the long period of the existence of the first game. The second part entered the market just three years ago, while the first game is approaching its 11th anniversary.

The Last of US Part 2 had several strengths. It was a more ambitious game, which lasted twice as long as the first. But, apparently, not everyone agreed with the ideas of Drakmann, which resulted in such low indicators.

Despite its shortcomings, The Last of US Part 2 has become a real splash for PlayStation. After a successful television adaptation at the beginning of this year, the game experienced a powerful surge in sales.

Naughty Dog is ready to revive this game by releasing Remaster in 2024. Remaster for PS5 and the probable subsequent launch on the PC can cause a new excitement wave around The Last of US Part 2 and bring it closer to the values of the predecessor sales.
